Queen's completes heat 1

Heat 1 in Queen's 3MT competition was completed today.  With ten participants and three local judges it was a great way to start the 2013 competition. The top 3 and People's choice winner go through to the final on Thursday. 

1st place & People's Choice - Ryley Beddoe, (Civil Engineering).Supervised by Dr Andy Take, her presentation was titled "Landslides today, lives saved tomorrow"

2nd place - Joel Roediger (Astro Physics). Supervised by Professor Stephane Courteau, his presentation was titled "The stories that galaxies tell us".

3rd place - Sharief Oteafy (Computing). Supervised by Dr Hossam Hassanein, his presentation was titled "Establishing sensing networks by reconnecting old ones".

Due to People's Choice also placing in the top 3, the 4th placed student will also go through to the final.

4th place - Mitchell Anderson (Physics). Supervised by Dr Professor James Fraser, his presentation was titled "Quantum weirdness: light from carbon".
