Queen's has their representatives

Last night, Queen's hosted the final of their 3MT competition.  Held in the new medical building it was a great atmosphere.  Thirteen students went through to the finals - 4 from each heat plus a wild card entry.


Finalists & Judges 2013 (LtoR): Dr Steven Liss, Principal Woolf, Linda Ann Daly, Ann Lukits, Hon Peter Milliken, Haroon Malik (Computing), Laurelle Veloce (Physics), Rana Pishva (Psychology), Ryley Beddoe (Civil Engineering), Xiaoqian Liu (Education), Heather Ridgway (Rehabilitation Science), Sharief Oteafy (Computing), Jasmin Ma (Kinesiology & Health Studies), Alaa al-Helaili(Physiology), Frank Secretain (Mechanical & Materials Engineering), Joel Roediger (Astro physics), Nida Latif (Psychology), Mitchell Anderson (Physics)

The eventual winner and runner up, who will now represent Queen's at the Ontario 3MT competition were:

  • 1st place - Xiaoqian Liu (Education) - "Grade: an indicator more than achievement"
  • 2nd place - Ryley Beddoe (CIvil Engineering) - "Landslides today, lives saved tomorrow"
