This office is responsible for the acceptance, process, deposit and receipting of all charitable gifts directed to Queen's University. In addition, the ABO maintains the integrity of the donor information and the giving record database. The Business Office is accountable to central university for all cash deposited within Advancement, the accurate allocation of cash to the general ledger and appropriate filing of both Revenue Canada and Internal Revenue Service tax returns.
Alumni Relations draws on the advice and assistance of the volunteer-driven Alumni Association to help develop its policies and procedures. The Department provides a significant amount of revenue for the University by running such alumni-oriented service programs as a MasterCard affinity program, home and auto insurance programs, and Queen's clothing and merchandise. Other activities include producing the Alumni Review (which is published five times yearly), managing an international network of alumni Branches, organizing the annual Alumni Weekend each fall and operating a student/alumni mentoring program.
The Department of Marketing and Communications has a mandate of supporting the university in building and enhancing its image and reputation in support of its vision. It assumes responsibility for the overall stewardship for the Queen's "brand", develops targeted marketing communications for campus stakeholders, develops strategic relations with the media to serve the advancement of the university, and serves as the main source of internal university communications. Marketing and Communications also publishes the Queen's Gazette.
