English Language Proficiency Test (e.g. TOEFL and IELTS)

Do I need an English Language Proficiency Test?

You do not need to complete an English Language Proficiency Test if you have:
• completed an IB diploma (completion of SL English is not sufficient) or
• completed the GCE Advanced Levels or
• lived in a country where English is the acknowledged primary language or
• attended an education institution full-time where the medium of instruction is English for the most recent three years prior to beginning their university studies are not required to submit a standardized English languages test score (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS).

All other applicants must achieve a satisfactory score on one of the tests of facility in English, listed below. For tests of English requirements, please see below.

This test is a firm requirement and admission decisions cannot be made until an acceptable score has been reported. If you are in doubt about whether you meet our language requirements, submit an acceptable English language test score as soon as possible to avoid potential delays in the processing of your admission application.

Students who are enrolled in the Winter session of the Queen’s 12-Week EAP Advanced level English course should be aware that they must provide a satisfactory score on a test of facility in English.

Can I submit the test results after the deadline?

Unfortunately, we can not guarantee that an applicant's score will be eligible to be used in the admission process if it is received after the deadline.  The decision as to whether an applicant's score can be used will be based upon the current enrollment levels of the program(s) the applicant has applied to when the score is received.
