Post-Secondary Transfer Credit Policies

  1. Students who have taken post-secondary credit prior to attending Queen’s must disclose this information on the OUAC application form. Failure to disclose all post-secondary studies during time of application is considered Academic Dishonesty and may prohibit an applicant from receiving transfer credit or may result in withdrawal from the University.

  2. Detailed, electronic course syllabi are required for a transfer credit assessment to be completed. Queen's will not request syllabi on student's behalf from their previous institution. Only courses for which course descriptions have been received can be assessed for transfer credit. Syllabi must be submitted in English, except for "Language" courses, where the syllabi will be accepted in the language of instruction.

  3. Paper-based outlines mailed to the Undergraduate Admission and Recruitment office are not accepted for transfer credit review.

  4. Eligible students who do not submit a final transcript and/or course descriptions (where required) by the end of their first term as a Queen's student are considered to have declined transfer credit.

  5. Credit is not granted for courses with a final grade lower than 63% or C.

  6. Transfer credit assessments are completed by the Undergraduate Chair in the department most relevant to the course content. Credit assessment outcomes are not appealable.

  7. Transfer credit limits are imposed by each School or Faculty. Students must complete the majority of the academic work required for both their degree program and their concentration through Queen's University. Please refer to the Academic Calendar of your School or Faculty for additional information.

  8. Achieved grades from transfer credits will not be reflected on a Queen’s transcript, only the designation “TR”.

  9. Once applied to a student account, transfer credit will not be removed by the Undergraduate Admission and Recruitment Office.
