Full-Time Upper-Year Admission

Bachelor of Science (Honours) Kinesiology

There are a limited number of upper-year spaces in the Bachelor of Science program in Kinesiology. To be considered for full-time admission to the program, applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B).

DEFINITION OF UPPER-YEAR CANDIDATES

Students who have attempted a minimum 24.0 units (or equivalent) at another accredited university or college with a university transfer program. 24.0 Queen's units are typically 4 full-year courses (one course taken over two terms) or 8 one-term only courses. Upper-year candidates have generally attended university for a minimum of 2 terms;
Ontario community college students who are in a three-year diploma program and will be graduating;
Graduates from three-year Ontario community college diploma programs;
CEGEP students who are in the final year of a three year professional career program and will be receiving their DEC;
Graduates from three-year Ontario community college diploma programs;
University graduates applying to do a second undergraduate degree program.

TRANSFERABILITY OF COURSES

Transfer credits are assessed by individual departments based on equivalency to Queen's courses. Students are informed of their credits after the offer of admission has been sent. Credit is not granted for courses with a final grade lower than 2.0 (C).
Graduates from Ontario community college three-year diploma programs or from CEGEP three-year professional/career programs receive a maximum of 30.0 units.
The Faculty of Arts & Science requires students to complete the majority of their academic work at Queen's University in order to receive a degree.

THE APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Applications must be submitted to the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) between 1 March and 1 June. The online application is available at: http://www.ouac.on.ca.
Acknowledgement letters, advising what supporting documentation is required, are sent when Undergraduate Admission receives the applications from the OUAC.
All documentation requested must be received at Undergraduate Admission by 15 June.
Complete files of eligible applicants are reviewed for admission decisions in late June.
In early July an offer of admission will be sent to candidates whose application has been approved.

PREREQUISITE INFORMATION

Senior secondary school or equivalent of Biology and Mathematics and one of Chemistry or Physics.
*Please Note: students who completed an Ontario secondary school curriculum must have taken university preparatory courses in Biology, Advanced Functions, and two of Calculus & Vectors, Chemistry, or Physics or equivalents.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE

Queen's University does not operate on a semester systerm; full-time admission to an undergraduate program is possible only in September.
