March Break Open House - What's happening on campus?

We are pleased that you are coming to our campus and know you will enjoy the opportunity to discover and explore your options. Talk to the faculty, go on campus and residence tours and visit the academic and community fair. Treat your visit as a chance to explore your possibilities and see if Queen's is a fit. 

Where do I start my day?

Your day will begin at 9:30 am at Grant Hall, where we will begin with our traditional yet exciting welcoming ceremony. This will be followed by a  tour of the Queen's campus by a current Queen's student. Feel free to ask your tour guide to visit any place on campus that you are interested in, and they will do their best to get you there!. After lunch we have many activities and events planned to choose from a variety of different departments and faculties. Lectures, building tours, Academic and Information Sessions, Mini Lectures, first year classes and other interactive sessions from your Faculty of choice. 

We can appreciate how busy this day will be for all our visitors, so please review the current itinerary carefully so you can plan your day efficiently. As we approach the March Break Open House, this itinerary may be updated with more events and extra details!

Arts and Science and Student Services and Academic Fair

1:00pm-3:30 pm - Grant Hall

The Arts and Science department will be present in each program to help answer questions and to speak about all the programs available in Arts and Science as well as representatives from the following departments, faculties, schools and services at  Grant Hall.

 

Student Services

Undergraduate Admission and Student Awards, International Programs Office, Career Services, Queen's University International Centre, Bader International Study Centre, Health Counselling and Disability Services and Enrichment Studies Unit.

 

Undergraduate Admission 

Undergraduate Admissionand Student Awards will be present at the Arts and Science and Student Services Fair detailed below. 

 

Student Awards

Student Awards will be hosting an Information session in Gordon Hall at 1:30 pm AND 2:30 pm in the Welcome Centre room 202. (second floor)

ARTS & SCIENCE ITINERARY

 

 

 

Other participants include: The School of Medicine , Graduate Studies and The Faculty of Law

 


 

Athletics and Recreation

1:30 pm - 3:30 pm :  Representatives will be available to answer questions regarding the Athletics program and services available. They will be located in the entrance foyer of the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC).

Tours of the ARC will be conducted between 2:30 pm - 3:00 pm

 


 

School of Business

School of Business will be hosting information sessions and offering tours of  Goodes Hall in the afternoon. 

Building Tour: The tours of Goodes Hall will begin at 1:30 pm and continue as visitors arrive. Tours are provided by Commerce students and are approximately 30 minutes; the final tour will begin at 2:30 pm 

Welcome & Panel Discussion:  From 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm in Policy Studies, Rm 202 located in Robert Sutherland Hall, we will provide you with a brief overview of Queen's Commerce then open the floor for discussion with our expert panel.  Panel members:  President of Commerce Society,  Co-Chair of the High School Liaison ComSoc Committee, Career Coach, Manager of the Exchange Program, Executive Director and an Academic Advisor.    

 


 

Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science

Have you ever wondered what Queen's Engineering is all about?

Join us for an informative afternoon, designed to answer your questions, and allow you to experience Engineering at Queen's. Your afternoon begins with meeting our faculty and student representatives from each of our ten Engineering and Applied Science programs.  Following that there will be opportunities to tour departments, attend an introductory presentation on First Year, visit lectures, talk to students about their projects, and tour our "live" engineering building. Find out first-hand what a Queens Engineering education can mean for you.

The  School of Nursing will be hosting an information session and mini tours of the patient simulation lab, Clinical Education Centre and Anatomy lab ON TUESDAY MARCH 12th ONLY!

Concurrent Education

If you have any questions about Teacher Education, including the Concurrent Education Program, we welcome you to stop by The Academic and Student Services Fair at Grant Hall. A Queen's Concurrent Education student and an Education staff member will be there to answer your questions.

Concurrent Education will be conducting an extensive Q & A session for all applicants interested in the program. Concurrent students will talk about their experiences and answer questions.

Dates: March 11 and 12

Location: Macdonald Hall room 004, Monday  March 11 and Jeffrey Hall room 101, Tuesday March 12

Time: 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm each day

 


 

Four Directions Aboriginal Student Centre

Open House: 9:00 am - 4:30 pm                                

Meet & Greet: 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Four Directions Aboriginal Student Centre  will be open throughout the day for a tour and casual Meet & Greet with staff.

If you are planning on sticking around after the events of the day, please join us for a Meet & Greet with staff and Indigenous students and end your tour with some corn soup and fry bread! We will also be giving away door prizes, so be sure to enter your name in the draw. Everyone is welcome!


 

Residence and Hospitality Services

Victoria Hall and Watts Hall will be open from 11am -3:30pm pm for room tours. Residence staff will be available at this location to answer any questions you may have regarding the residence application and other related issues.

Hospitality Services will also be available at Victoria Hall  to answer questions regarding meal plans and other exciting culinary events happening on campus.

 


Alma Mater Society

Lower Level of the John Deutsch University Centre

The AMS is a completely student-run organization. Current AMS student staff will be available to answer questions regarding our clubs, services, resources and opportunities for employment and volunteering. The AMS offices and services will be open throughout both days for prospective students to tour. Light refreshments will be provided.
