Project Overview

What is Advance Web?

Advance Web is a web interface that connects to our current Advance Oracle database providing a contemporary technology which delivers intuitive navigation and access to data. In addition Advance Web provides a platform for providing Advance users graphical reporting.

What are the benefits to Advance Web?

Increase in operational efficiency

  • Allows Queen's to provide the key data and metrics in a summarized display that can include reports that can be customized based on the Advance user homepage.
    • Intuitive access to data that is tailored to the specific needs and expectations of Advance users which can be based on faculty, department, area or role.
    • Reports can include charts and graphs
    • Eliminates Advance users having to run key reports as they are on main page at sign in
    • Eliminates drilling down for key data through the use of combo forms
  • Provide easy remote access to Advance information.
  • Easy integration with Web tools that allows linkages between Advance and other web based applications which will provide new ways to deliver and use Advance data
  • Eliminates some report requests as reports can be incorporated into forms on Advance pages
  • Resource efficient comparable to Advance Windows for deploying, upgrading and remote access.
    • Single interface whether accessing remotely or locally
    • Eliminates requirement for Advance users having to have additional software for remote access such as Citrix and VPN
  • Can be accessible from Smart phones

Increase in Stakeholder Engagement

  • Advance Web allows the creation of custom homepages that can provide volunteers (campaign, class agents, branch agents) web access to information specific to their interests
  • Advance Web can incorporate Queen’s brand

Improved Accountability

  • Advance Web makes it possible and easier to capture, understand and communicate key performance indicators, metrics and other data to manage programs more effectively.

Advance Homepages

Advance Web provides us with the ability to create customized views of data based on the user. We call these customized views Advance Homepages. Each Advance user will be assigned to a homepage group and upon logging into the Advance application, they will be presented with information to help support their role in the campaign.
