Second Quarter 2011-12 Advancement Results
At the end of each quarter, the Advancement Committee of the Queen's Board of Trustees receives a report from the Office of Advancement that provides an update on our progress against our goals.
Highlights from August 1, 2011 to October 31, 2011 include:
Fundraising & Revenue

Overall Campaign is gaining momentum

Increasing focus on principal gift fundraising (gifts of $5 million plus) and this is being applied to all faculty campaigns and special projects

The Principal, Chancellor, Provost and other senior leaders are being engaged at an unprecedented level with some of our most generous Benefactors and potential contributors with a view to inspiring leadership gifts for the various faculties and projects with the Campaign

State of the economy is of some concern in the short term
Profile & Awareness

Workshops with units and departments on how to use the brand idea in their marketing and communications initiatives began in July

Brand idea incorporated and applied to many marketing and communications

Concepts developed for the Campaign theme based on the brand idea and approved by the Campaign Working Group for executional development and design

Visits to the
Queen's News Centre up by 78% - aligning with increased media for the month of October this quarter.

Creation of an
Orientation website, new this year for incoming students, the mobile queensu.ca site (launched last spring) and note-able increases in traffic to the Principal's blog site

43% increase in number of media hits for the month of October. Up to 800 hits from 557 last year at the same time. Queen's maintains more Globe coverage than any comparator in Ontario, second overall after UBC.

Close to 500 donors, alumni, students, Kingston and Queen's community members celebrate the Grand Opening of the
School of Medicine, September 23rd Queen's honours the Abramsky family legacy with the dedication of Abramsky House (Sept 21), which will house the undergraduate administrative offices for the new School of Medicine
