Sustainable Engagement with International Alumni

Focused, strategic, and sustainable alumni engagement is essential to advance the university’s international interests and to build an international presence reflective of our national reputation. Effectively engaged international alumni represent an invaluable potential resource not only philanthropically but through contributions of intellectual capital, advocacy, advice, and access to their global networks.

Advancement will consolidate activities around five sustainable “alumni engagement hubs” in select areas: California, New York, UK, Hong Kong, and China. In these areas, we will leverage the power of the Queen’s global alumni network: its accomplished leaders and innovators, their willingness to help one another, and their willingness to help their university.

We will also capitalize on the significant progress of many faculties and schools in support of the four pillars of the Queen’s Comprehensive International Plan:

  • International Research Engagement
  • International Mobility
  • International Enrolment Management
  • Internationalization at Home

We will build a solid foundation for our international philanthropic future. Several factors are essential pre-requisites: defining the university’s international philanthropic priorities; securing the assistance of influential alumni in furthering relationships with potential benefactors; capitalizing on the presence of the Principal as leader of the institution and an alumnus himself; ensuring that charitable tax mechanisms are in place where needed.
