Tour of the Whitney Museum

The Whitney Museum
Date:
Saturday, May 14, 2016 - 5:45pm to 7:00pm
Location:

The NYC Branch of the Queen's University Alumni Association invites you to attend a one-hour tour of a new exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art titled ‘Human Interest: Portraits from the Whitney’s Collection’. The private guided tour will be given by a PhD candidate focusing on art history. The exhibition offers new  perspectives on one of art’s oldest genres. Portraits are one of the richest veins of the Whitney’s collection, a result of the museum’s longstanding commitment to the figurative tradition, which was championed by its founder, Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney. Drawn entirely from the Museum’s holdings, the more than one hundred works on view reveal how artists have reinvented portraiture during the last sixty years.
