The Department of Medicine presents the Dr. Peter Munt Lectureship with guest lecturer Dr. R. John Kimoff from McGill University.

Join us virtually on Zoom as Dr. Kimoff presents the topic of: Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Cardiovascular Outcomes: What is the Current Evidence? Dr. Kimoff will provide an overview of biologic mechanisms underlying the impact of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) on cardiovascular function and review his observational data linking OSA to adverse cardiovascular outcomes. Dr. Kimoff will also discuss the current clinical practice and highlight the potential novel strategies for future clinical trials.

About the Speaker

John KimoffDr. R. John Kimoff is currently a Professor of Medicine in the Respiratory Division of the Department of Medicine at McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). He is the Medical Director of the MUHC Clinical Sleep Laboratory and the MUHC Research Institute Sleep Research Facility, and the Director of the sleep medicine fellowship program. 

 

 

The Peter Munt Lectureship

Peter MuntDr. Peter Munt was the Founder and Chair of the Division of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Munt was instrumental in the development of many changes to the postgraduate training program. He also held the position of director of the sleep laboratory and, in 1993, was appointed chair of the Department of Medicine. He remained in that position until 2001.

 

The generous donations of Mrs. Elizabeth Munt and her son Andy have made this lectureship series possible enabling the Department of Medicine to bring a distinguished speaker to Queen's each year.
