Saray StancicJoin Dr. Saray Stancic for a workshop on the lifestyle medicine solution. Learn how diet, lifestyle choices, the environment plays a role chronic diseases and what this means for medical education. 

  • Explore how diet and lifestyle can affect multiple sclerosis - Learn about where the scienctific evidence comes from that shows how what we eat and how we live can impact the chances of developing multiple sclerosis (MS).
  • Learn about epigenetics and its connection to chronic diseases - Understand the science of epigenetics, which is all about how our environment and lifestyle can affect our genes and how this might play a role in what happens with chronic diseases. 
  • Understand how diseases start and how health is maintained - Get to grips with how diseases start (pathogenesis) and how the body maintains health (salutogensis) in the way that dosctors are taught today. 

This workshop is part of the Healthy People, Healthy Planet virtual speaker series designed for faculty, staff, and learners in the Queen’s community to promote healthy behaviour with a focus on the intersection of lifestyle and planetary health to achieve optimal well-being. Six sessions will take place throughout April, covering topics such as healthy sleep, diet, sustainability, and physical activity.

This online series has been certified for up to six CFPC Group Learning credits and six Royal College Section 1-Group Learning hours. It provides a Queen's University certificate of completion for up to six hours of professional learning for health professionals.
