Wonders of the Ancient World - Tour Summary

Join us on this extraordinary seven-night journey to the crossroads of civilization, from Thessaloniki to Athens, Greece, visiting rare jewels of the ancient Aegean coast in between. Step back into an era of mythological gods, of storied kings and illustrious philosophers as you walk through the archaeological ruins of historic civilizations, including up to 10 UNESCO World Heritage sites. Cruise aboard the exclusively chartered small ship M.Y. VARIETY VOYAGER, featuring all ocean-view cabins and carrying only 60 passengers. Ascend to the astounding Meteora, 14th-century monasteries built “suspended in the air” atop nearly inaccessible, towering sandstone pillars. See the monumental Acropolis of Pergamon, a major centre of learning during the Hellenistic dynasty that sprang from the conquests of Alexander the Great. In Turkey, stand on the proscenium of the Great Amphitheatre, where St. Paul provoked the passions of the Ephesians, and envision the lives of the Roman Empire’s most prominent citizens as you explore the mosaic-laden chambers and colonnaded courtyards of the spectacularly preserved Terrace Houses. A Thessaloniki pre-cruise option and an Athens post-cruise option are available.
