Have a look at the events alumni have enjoyed in the past - and plan to come to or help with one in the near future!
Alumni came out for receptions to welcome Principal Daniel Woolf in 2012, Arts & Science Dean Alistair Maclean and Board of Trustees Chair Bill Young in May 2009, Applied Science Dean Kim Woodhouse in February 2008, and Principal Karen Hitchcock and Arts & Science Dean Robert Silverman in March 2006. In November 2000, Jamie Ross, Artsci '96 MSc '98, brought a presentation for Boston alumni about his summer job cleaning up some of the 50 years' worth of accumulated waste dumped by climbers on the slopes of Mount Everest. The Queen's Bands came to Boston in 2001, 2004, 2006, and 2010 to add their unique color to the Boston St. Patrick's Day Parade. In 2006, Principal Karen Hitchcock was among the many parade watchers, and even managed to get herself invited to parade organizer John "Wacko" Hurley's house for a good view. Always keen to put on a good show, the Bands also performed at alumni-organized dinner receptions as well as during a legendary series of impromptu evening performances in Harvard Square! A mountain hike comes together almost every year when the weather cooperates. Alumni groups have toured the Greeley Ponds, and scaled Red Hill, Mount Monadnock, and even Mount Lafayette! (Click on photos for bigger views.)
These great events, first held in Boston in 2007, bring together alumni, current students, new Boston-area students, and proud Queen's parents to welcome the new additions to the Queen's family! The informal receptions help alumni reconnect, and help students prepare for what's to come. (Click on thumbnails for a bigger view.)
