Class Reunion Plans: October 18 - 20, 2013

The following letter was mailed to your class. If you did not receive it, please email reunions@queensu.ca to ensure that your contact information is up to date.

Dear Arts’63ers:

As I hope you are aware, our 50th Class Reunion is being held on the weekend of Oct. 18 – 20th.  Thank goodness the University has decided to go back to reunions in the fall.

Of course this is a special reunion for us and the University makes specific plans for 50th reunions; in fact from now on we are referred to as members of the Tricolour Guard (Queen’s alumni who graduated 50 years ago or more).  The Tricolour Guard Reunions feature the following:

  • Local accommodation at the Holiday Inn Kingston Waterfront for our class (we have to book these rooms through the Alumni Office when we register – we can’t book directly with the Holiday Inn)
  • Bus service provided throughout the weekend
  • A very special reception and dinner, hosted by the Principal and the Chancellor on the Saturday evening
  • A class photo
  • Football game access
  • Special recognition during the half time parade

The football game is against the University of Guelph and there are all kinds of other events that all alumni share in, such as:

  • Weekend-long Scavenger Hunt
  • Breakfast with Students   (Purchase tickets separately,   $10 each)
  • Movies in the Square
  • Student Clubs Exhibits
  • Queen’s School of Music Showcase
  • Tricolour Fun Run
  • Faculty and School Events, Open Houses and Tours
  • The Athletics Brunch
  • Graduate Studies Networking Chat

So could you please do the following:

  • E-mail us at robbie.shaw@dal.ca and let us know if you’re planning to attend.
  • Visit our class web page regularly for updates on our plans and information on how to register for the weekend.
  • Registration is set to “go live” April 24, 2013.
  • Make sure the University has your email address.  To cut down on costs only one mailed message will be sent out to the class.  We’ll be doing the majority of communication via email and our class web page. Please send you email address to: records@queensu.ca.
  • Book your accommodation through the Reunions Office when you register for the weekend.
  • Many 50th reunion classes pay tribute to Queen’s by giving back to the University by making a class gift. Is this something of interest?

I am going to be in Toronto on Tuesday April 16th and if any of you would like to have a beer and chips and chat about reunion plans. I’ll be staying at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel at Terminal 3 at the Pearson Airport, say 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.  Just send me an email to let me know if you are coming.

Gay Racine e-mailed me last week to say that Science ’63 has scheduled a golf outing on the Friday morning of Homecoming Weekend and would be happy to have folks in Arts ’63 join in.  Please let me know if you are interested. Fred Blair in Science ’63 is the organizer and it is to be held at the Garrison Club.  Spouses are invited.

Cha Gheill!!
