Class Reunion Plans: October 4 - 6, 2013

    Events Schedule

    Friday, October 4, 2013

5:00 p.m. to whenever!    Artsci’68 “Meet and Greet”
After you’ve checked into your room at the Fireside, or other location, you’re invited to join your colleagues in Tom’s Place, the Fireside’s casual lounge, to share a drink with, or just to say hello to, other ’68 alumni and find out what folks have been doing over the past 45 years since graduation.

You are also welcome to drop into the Applied Science ’68 meet and greet event being held in the Drawing Room at the Fireside to renew old acquaintances with your friends in the Applied Science faculty. Thanks to the Sc’68 planning committee for this invitation.

Free evening            No special group event
No group event is planned for the balance of the evening so that you have an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues for a visit, dinner or a stroll in downtown Kingston and possibly have a drink or coffee at one of the many sidewalk patio restaurants dotted throughout the downtown area.

You may wish to arrange for dinner at Bistro Stefan located in the Fireside.

    Saturday, October 5, 2013

    8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.    Breakfast
Meet with colleagues over breakfast in Bistro Stefan in the Fireside Inn to begin your day.

    8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.    Registration (“Welcome Home! Alumni Meet & Greet”)
Registration is in Grant Hall for all alumni attending this year’s Homecoming Weekend. This is a great opportunity to “run into” colleagues and renew acquaintances. You will have registered formally for the weekend online already, but this is where you can pick up your reunion pin and registration package at Grant Hall and visit with old friends.

    1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.        Football game
Our Queen’s Gaels will be playing Laurier at Richardson Stadium. We will have a banner for our group so look for it in the stands so that we can all sit together. At approximately 2:30 p.m., there will be the traditional half-time parade around the field for all alumni years. Our banner will lead us for this memorable walk in front of the current student body in the stands.

    7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.    Arts & Science ’68 dinner
A dinner event has been arranged for the group at The Keg Steakhouse & Bar, 300 King St. E. at 8:00 p.m. The reservation is in the name of “Arts ’68”. You may select your dinner from the restaurant’s main menu. Traditionally, we have extended an invitation to our Commerce ’68 friends to join us at this event and we plan to do so again this year.

10:00 p.m. to midnight    Back at the Fireside – Tom’s Place
You may wish to conclude your evening with an informal get together with colleagues in the Fireside’s bar.

    Sunday, October 6, 2013

    10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.    Sunday Brunch
Once again, Peter Milliken has graciously offered to host our group for brunch at his home on Sunday morning. Directions to Peter’s home will be available at our Meet and Greet function on Friday evening at the Fireside Inn. We will certainly take our traditional group photos of grads, spouses/family members, etc. in front of Peter’s fireplace to add to our growing gallery of so-called “official” reunion group photos. So, don’t miss this event.

If you do not have transportation to get to Peter’s home, please let Ron Bannerman know and we’ll try and make some arrangement for you.

    1:00 p.m.        Farewell and safe home ….
‘til the BIG 50th reunion in 2018 !!!
We hope that you enjoyed your reunion weekend. As you appreciate, our 50th reunion is a significant milestone in our lives. It is our sincere hope that you will be able to join us in 2018 for this very important gathering.

Contact Ron Bannerman at ron.bannerman@hotmail.comfor details on hotel bookings for Arts'68.

    Sunday brunch
There will be a $20 charge per person collected by way of a donation plate at the front door of Peter’s home to help offset the cost of food and beverages.
