Happy 90th birthday to CFRC, the longest-running campus-based broadcaster in Canada! The not-for-profit, volunteer-powered CFRC station is Kingston’s only campus- community radio. The radio station offers diverse music and spoken word programming 24/7, over the air at 101.9FM and also on-line. CFRC also provides free broadcast skills training and experience to members of the Queen’s and Kingston community.
CFRC’s seventh annual Funding Drive continues until Sunday, Feb 19. This annual on-air fundraising campaign raises almost 20% of CFRC’s operating revenues.
If you’re in Kingston this weekend, enjoy a couple of different events organized to coincide with the Funding Drive:
Friday, February 17: CFRC DJ night from 8pm-midnight at the Grad Club, 162 Barrie. Free.
Sunday, February 19: Skating at Market Square with CFRC DJs. 12-5pm. Free.
Show your support for this Queen’s institution by visiting the CFRC Donate page or calling the Funding Drive pledge line (613-533-CFRC) between 8am and midnight from Feb 10-19. Your donation is eligible for a tax receipt or delightful CFRC gifts, and ensures that our campus-community station can continue its important work.
For information about the history of CFRC, check out the article and slideshow of photos in the on-line Alumni Review.
Thank you for your support!
