Alumni awarded Order of Ontario

Two Queen’s alumni have been awarded the Order of Ontario, the province’s highest honour.

Michael Davies, Arts’60, is a leading businessman and philanthropist in Kingston whose contributions have supported Queen's University, the Art Gallery of Ontario, and countless other Ontario educational, cultural and health-care institutions.

Ronald Deibert, MA’90, is widely recognized to be among the world's leading experts on digital technology, security, and human rights. Mr. Deibert is the director of the Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs, and was one of the first experts to recognize and take measures to mitigate growing threats to communications rights, openness and security worldwide.

The Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, will invest the appointees at a ceremony on Wednesday, February 6, at Queen's Park.

The Order of Ontario recognizes extraordinary Ontarians who have made a lasting mark on the province, the country, and the world. For more information about this year’s recipients, visit the website.
