Alumni Humanitarian Award

Presented to a Queen’s alumna/alumnus in recognition of distinguished work or volunteer service, at home or abroad, which has made a difference to the well-being of others.

Shelagh Rogers, Artsci'77

Shelagh is a veteran broadcast journalist and current host of “The Next Chapter” on CBC Radio. She got her start in radio at Queen’s, as Classical Musical Director and Chief Announcer.  Shelagh is a tireless advocate and fundraiser for literacy projects. She is also active in raising awareness about mental illness and mental health issues. She is also an activist for reconciliation between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.  For using her voice as an advocate for others, Shelagh is our 2013 Alumni Humanitarian award recipient.

Shelagh was honoured at the QUAA Alumni Awards Gala on April 5, 2014 as part of the Alumni Volunteer Summit.
