Presented to a Queen's alumnus in recognition of distinguished community or voluntary service, at home or abroad, which has made a difference to the well-being of others. Alumni, students, faculty, staff, retirees and members of the public are invited to submit nominations.
Shelagh is a veteran broadcast journalist and current host of “The Next Chapter” on CBC Radio. She got her start in radio at Queen’s, as Classical Musical Director and Chief Announcer. Shelagh is a tireless advocate and fundraiser for literacy projects. She is also active in raising awareness about mental illness and mental health issues. She is also an activist for reconciliation between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people. For using her voice as an advocate for others, Shelagh is our 2013 Alumni Humanitarian award recipient.
