Queen's University

Hello Queen's Parents!

As parents, we all want what's best for our children. And Queen's does too. We're proud to say that all three of our boys were accepted into Queen's.They are enjoying their experiences, and they are thriving.

Recently we made the decision to support Queen's in a much bigger way than we have in the past. But it is not only our boys' experiences which led us to do that- what truly inspired us was watching the efforts of so many people at Queen's supporting students who are struggling.

It is with this in mind that we chose to support the Queen's Student Health and Wellness Fund.

studentsathomecoming.jpgStudents are younger today than when we pursued our post-secondary degrees. They are growing up in a fast-paced world full of pressures and influences that many of us never experienced at their age. There is no question that some students do not make the transition to university as seamlessly as others. Living away from home, combined with new and challenging academic expectations, can be a big adjustment.

Queen's is committed to supporting every student's success. The University recently launched a new suite of first-year transition programs which will complement existing student services like The Writing Centre, Learning Strategies, and Career Services- promoting student success from first-year to graduation and beyond.

As parents, we are partners in ensuring our children's success. And one of the most important things we can do is encourage our students to use these resources - book a one-on-one writing consultation, attend a workshop on preparing for multiple choice exams, seek advice from a faculty-based counsellor, arrange a mock-interview or review their resume with Career Services. And there are many more options.

Where Excellence Meets Opportunity

Research shows that using campus resources will improve student success. The reality is that these programs also need our support. As a community, and as parents who want what's best for our children, it is our responsibility to support these programs so that every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Queen's students - our sons and daughters- are learning, discovering and innovating. Paving the way for our future. They have the spirit, the ambition and the initiative. With the proper support, we know they will succeed.

Please join us by adding your support to Queen's Student Health and Wellness Fund where every donor and every dollar creates opportunity.
