French 19th Century and Modern British Art
19th and 20th Century British Art; 18th and 19th Century French Painting
Current research is on Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966).


Previous employment: Assistant at Birmingham City Art Gallery, 1954-56; Courtauld Institute of Art (Teaching Collection Librarian 1960-71); Queens University, Department of Art, 1971+ (Head of Department 1983-89) (Emeritus Professor since1993).
