History of Architecture in the Classical Tradition in Europe and North America, Architectural Education, Architectural Books and Drawings
An historian of the classical tradition in architecture, Pierre du Prey's publications reveal interests that range from antiquity to posterity, to paraphrase the title of one of his recent books. His areas of specialization include the education of architects, the cataloguing of their drawings, and the way their works reflect their biographies. He has written and lectured frequently on John Soane and Nicholas Hawksmoor, but besides British he has also worked on Italian, German, and French material. His web-based educational resource called Architecture in the Classical Tradition is nearing completion. Its scope and innovative structure employ new digital methods to disseminate architectural knowledge more broadly. Past President of the Society for the Study of Architecture in Canada, he is actively exploring Canadian material as several exhibition cataloques and edited series of papers indicate.
