Contemporary art; curatorial strategies; artist-run institutions and collectives; performance studies; social practice; neoliberal subjectivity; affective, aesthetic and political economies. I am currently researching the work of Ciara Phillips, Les Levine, and the e-flux time/bank.

Biography

Sunny Kerr is Curator of Contemporary Art at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre and a PhD Candidate in Cultural Studies at Queen’s University. After studying English at Queen’s, he completed his BFA at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University and earned his MFA at York University in 2006. He has taught at York and OCAD Universities, as a sessional instructor in the University of Toronto’s Visual Studies program, and most recently as a Teaching Fellow in the Queen’s University Department of Film and Media. In 2013, he curated the Agnes exhibition, Déjà déjà visité: Mike Bayne, Jocelyn Purdie, Maayke Schurer and has developed numerous exhibitions, acquisitions, programs and publications in his role as Curator. While in Toronto, Kerr animated the U of T Art Centre as an education coordinator and curated artists’ projects with WayUpWayDown. Since arriving in Kingston in 2010, he helped found Corridor Culture, served on the Board of Modern Fuel Artist-run Centre, spearheaded the Princess Towers Notions Group and participates in the city’s hottest new art collective, Agitated Plover Salon.
