Dr. Johanne Bénard holds a Ph.D. from Université de Montréal. She has taught in the Department of French Studies since 1989. Her research is focused on twentieth-century French literature. Much of her published work has been on the French writer Louis-Ferdinand Céline. She has published L’inter-dit célinien Pour une lecture autobiographique de l’œuvre de Louis-Ferdinand Céline (Balzac, 2000) and is now working (with two co-editors) on a collective book on Céline’s polemic works (to be published in 2015). She is also interested in theatre and regularly contributes to the Québec journal Jeu.
