Economics, Huw Lloyd-Ellis

Dr. Huw Lloyd-Ellis has been appointed Head of the Department of Economics for a five-year term commencing July 1, 2013-June 30, 2018.

Dr. Lloyd-Ellis received his B.Sc. from the University of Southampton and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Queen's. He was previously an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto and has been a visiting scholar at Tilburg University and Melbourne Business School. He has also acted as a consultant for KPMG, the Bank of Canada and Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.

During his academic career, Dr. Lloyd-Ellis has undertaken research on sovereign debt, the dynamics of inequality and economic development, fiscal policy under uncertainty and the interactions between growth and business cycles. His articles have appeared in journals such as the /American Economic Review/, the /Review of Economic Studies/ and the /Journal of Monetary/ /Economics/. Most recently his research interests are in the area of housing market dynamics, mobility and inequality. He teaches and supervises research in macroeconomics and development economics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
