Introducing the new Ellis Hall Active Learning Spaces

Effective January 2014, 3 new active learning classrooms will be in place in Ellis Hall.  Construction is taking place this summer and fall.  The classrooms are designed to encourage different types of learning and each has varying levels of technology.

Corry Bazley, Com’92, Artsci’93, an alumna of the Department of Economics, is the recipient of the Queen’s University Alumni Association’s 2012 Branch Marsha Lampman Award.

Mary Reed, Artsci’84, an alumna of the Department of Film and Media, is the recipient of the Queen’s University Alumni Association’s 2012 Herbert. J. Hamilton Award.

Are you a new first-year student and need some assistance or advice?

The Peer Academic Support Service (PASS) is a great resource for first-year Arts and Science students.  The PASS team consists of upper year students who offer non-judgemental and confidential academic counselling on a drop-in basis. 

During Orientation Week, our PASS team will be offering services at the following times and locations:

Tuesday, September 4: 9:00 am to noon; 1:00 to 4:00 pm in Mackintosh-Corry Hall, Room D214

Reduced Services in Student Services Office August 7 - 17, 2012

The Student Services Office of the Faculty of Arts and Science in F200, Mackintosh-Corry Hall, will be operating with significantly reduced services during the period of Tuesday August 7th through Friday August 17th, 2012, following the end of the class selection period.  During this time, the front door to the office will be closed to walk-in traffic.

Queen's expands International offerings with new programs

Queen’s and Blyth Educational Travel will begin offering unique study abroad programs to university students and lifelong learners from around the world this spring.

“Our aim is to provide an unmatched educational experience by combining exceptional instructors who are passionate about teaching with customized field studies in a supportive learning environment,” says Jim Lee, Associate Dean (International), Faculty of Arts and Science, and Academic Director of the Queen’s-Blyth International Studies Program.

It’s not every class that has its own movie trailer. To be fair, Sidneyeve Matrix, a professor of media and mass communications at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, is a bit of a pioneer when it comes to harnessing the power of social media and technology for her courses.
