After filling out this application, the Admission Office will get in contact with you about submitting the documentation required to support your application. From there, it can take between one and two weeks to hear back from them. We are unable to speculate about transfer credit eligability before receiving your application and documentation as assessments are done on a case-by-case basis.

You will be automatically enrolled in the classes you choose on the application for your first semester with us. This means you will be both academically and financially responsible for these courses once you accept your offer. Going froward, you’ll be able to add/drop classes yourself using our online student portal called SOLUS. More information on setting this up will be sent to you in the email you get from Admissions after you apply.

Although you can be in both a degree and a certificate program concurrently, you can only choose one on this application form. If that is your plan, we recommend making your degree application using this online form and contacting the Arts and Science Online office (after you’ve accepted your offer of admission) to add the certificate program to your profile as well.

*Many first year college and university courses in ENGL, MATH, CHEM, BIOL will count as equivalents to ENG4U, Chemistry (SCH4U), Biology (SBI4U), and a 4U Math Course (MCV4U, MHF4U or MDM4U). Please contact admission@queensu.ca(link sends e-mail) for more info.

I am new to Queen's as an Interest Student

To be eligible to apply as an Interest Student without documentation, you must be over 19 years of age. Please note that the Interest category is not intended as a pathway for students who wish to apply to on-campus studies.

Starting as a Non-Degree Interest Student
Under this category, you'll be able to choose either a 3.0 unit class or a 6.0 unit class to start your first term of studies at Queen’s. If you choose a 3.0 unit class, you may also choose one more 3.0 unit class for the next term. If you achieve a minimum 1.6 GPA on these first 6.0 units, we’ll automatically move you into a category called “Non-Degree Continuing” and you’ll automatically be allowed to take up to 9.0 units (3 classes) per term.

Progressing from the Non-Degree to Degree Category
Once you reach a total of 18.0 units at Queen’s and have achieved a minimum 1.6 GPA, we will email you to ask if you would like to be moved into one of our degree (or certificate) programs and you may continue to take up to 9.0 units per term. All courses that you have completed as an Interest student will count towards your degree.

Moving from part-time to full-time
If you have a cumulative GPA of 2.9 after 18.0 units (or 1.9 GPA after 24.0 units), you can take up to a full-time course load of 15.0 units per term.

After filling out the application, the Admission Office will send you an email with further instructions on how to track your application status.

While you will be automatically enrolled in the classes you choose on the application for your first semester with us, you’ll be able to add/drop classes yourself using our online student portal called SOLUS going forward. More information on setting this up will be sent to you in the email you get from Admissions after you apply.

  • A 2-year college diploma with a minimum 2.9 GPA; OR
  • A 3-year college diploma with a minimum 2.6 GPA; OR

I am currently a Queen's Student

As a current Queen's Student, you do not need to apply to take online courses. You can simply enroll for one of our online courses in SOLUS by selecting “Distance Studies” in the CAREER drop-down in the course search screen.

Please note that some seats in full classes are reserved for distance students. If you get a ‘class full’ error while enrolling, you may keep trying to get a spot throughout the open enrolment period in SOLUS.

Visit http://my.queensu.ca to enroll.

I am currently at another College or University

As a student currently at another university, you can take Queen’s courses to supplement your current studies by getting a letter of permission from your current school which explicitly states the course codes and term you’d like to enroll in at Queen’s.

After filling out the application, the Admission Office will send an email about how to track the status of your application and submit the documentation required to support your application.

I used to go to Queen's and would like to return

As a returning Queen's Student, you do not need to apply to return to Queen’s. If you have been away from your studies for more than a year, you’ll need to fill out a 'return to studies' form. There is no fee for this form.

If you were originally admitted to Queen’s as an online student, use this form.

If you were originally admitted to Queen’s in an on-campus program, use this form.

Please allow a minimum of 48 hours for the form to be processed after you submit it. Once it has been processed, you will be able to log into SOLUS using your Queen’s NET ID and password and enroll in classes during the next open enrolment period.

You may call the number on your respective form for more information about enrolment.
