John Smol wins international mentoring awardPaleolimnologist John Smol (Queen's) and fellow biologist Chris Wood (McMaster University) have received 2010 Nature Awards for Mentoring in Science. The award recognizes the commitment and dedication that each has shown to mentoring his students. These awards were initiated in 2005 and recognize outstanding scientific mentorship. Each year focuses on a different country and 2010 was Canada's turn with more than 50 nominations were submitted for the two awards. Smol and Wood received the $10,000 awards at the Canadian Association for Graduate Studies annual meeting in Toronto on November 5. More information may be found | here |
