Queen's Biology is part of a new Sino-Canada Network for Environment and Sustainable Development.
A delegation from Tongji University (Shanghai) visited Queen's University, including the Department of Biology, Queen's University Biological Station, and the School of Environmental Studies to create a network to facilitate collaborations in research and education. This platform will allow the enrichment of educational opportunities for Canadian and Chinese students, including augmenting an existing biology field course, allowing faculty and graduate student exchange, and providing collaborative training.
It will also include joint research involving the Yangtze River basin, the World Wildlife Fund, low-impact urban development and aquatic ecosystem remediation, and monitoring environmental change using remote sensing and GIS (geographic information system) technology.
