BISC Research Committee Mission Statement (March 2013)

The BISC is a teaching-intensive institution with a dynamic student body and faculty. The BISC Research Committee aims to develop a research profile at the BISC in all of its dimensions, ranging from initiatives taken by students in their assignments and independent studies, to the original research projects of faculty members. We will support full academic freedom and disciplinary standards at the BISC.

Furthermore,

We aim to develop research links for the BISC on all levels: national, international, and in association with appropriate research organisations

We aim to uphold standards of research ethics for both faculty and students at the BISC

We aim to facilitate the development of key research skills in the student body and help to strengthen the research profile of the BISC faculty as an ongoing process of growth

We aim to maintain a global vision characterised by respect, democratic dialogue and sound moral principles between different perspectives at the BISC

We aim to respect both the unique profile of the BISC as well as the broad vision of Queen's University’s research ventures

We aim to maintain the research production and profile of the BISC at a level and extent appropriate for comparable academic institutions through regular meetings, systematic discussions and initiatives
