Dining at the Castle

All meals are taken in the Great Hall of Herstmonceux Castle where you can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and catch-up with your friends whilst admiring views of the idyllic courtyard.

Our Catering Manager and Head Chef will source local meat, vegetables and fruit to ensure the highest quality produce and maintain a balanced diet. 

When it comes to your diet needs our Front of House team are always on hand to assist. The castle catering team have a vast experience when it comes to accommodating students with dietary requirements including those who are vegan, gluten free or lactose intolerant. If you have any dietary needs please identify them on your residence form. This information will be shared with the catering team. However you are encouraged to meet with the Catering Manager during Orientation to discuss how best the team can meet your requirements.

Sunday Brunch 8:00am – 2pm
Dinner 6:00 – 8:00pm

Chestnuts Tea Room

Chestnuts Tea Room is available for students to use year-round, serving tea, coffee, paninis, cakes, as well as a host of other items.

Opening Times
Open daily from April – September 10am – 5pm, from 1st October 10am – 4pm.

Headless Drummer

The Headless Drummer is a social space on campus for use by all students. Hot food including pizza and chicken fingers is available Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays; last orders at 10:30pm.

Opening Times
Open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, 7.00pm – 11.30pm (last orders 11.00pm); Thursday 7:00pm - 12 midnight (last orders 11:30pm).
