Elected Roles

President
  • Chairs all meetings of Government
  • Is ultimately responsible for the productivity of Government and ensures that all duties and decisions are carried out
  • Attends all relevant committees and meetings that have influence on the decisions of Government
  • Represents Government at meetings with the Student Services Manager once a month
  • Must be able to serve as the President for both Fall and Winter semesters
Vice-President
  • Aids the President and assumes their responsibilities in their absence
  • Serves on the Disciplinary Committee of the BISC
  • Acts as the official spokesperson for the Government
  • Represents Government at meetings with the Student Services Manager once a month
  • Must be able to serve as the Vice-President for both Fall and Winter semesters
Musicians in Residence Representative (MIR Rep)
  • Represents the musical activities at the BISC
  • Work closely with the Musicians in Residence (Shelly and Diana), and it is important that you are highly organised and committed. The MIR Rep does not necessarily have to be musically inclined or talented
  • Will also serve as the choir librarian and administrative assistant to the Musicians in Residence
Corridor Representatives
  • Represent the interests of all BISC students to Government
  • Are responsible for reporting to corridors the decisions made by Government, and reporting to Government the wants and needs of their corridor
  • Hold positions within the BISC, representing various services, deemed important and necessary
Secretary
  • Appointed from existing elected Government members after all elections are complete
  • Coordinates and distributes the meeting agenda prior to each meeting
  • Records and publishes all minutes in a timely manner after the meeting
  • Types and delivers all necessary correspondence
Treasurer
  • Appointed from existing elected council members after all elections are complete
  • Keeps an accurate record of all Government’s funds
  • Presents the balance at all Government meetings
  • Responsible for preparing and organizing the finances; must be available to report to Student Services and Government the condition of Government funds
