SPAN 112/3.0 - Beginning Spanish II
Instructor: Ruth Cereceda
This course is a continuation of SPAN 111 offering a basic level of Spanish understanding, speaking, reading and writing for students who have some prior knowledge of Spanish. The contents of the course are those of an elementary level (A).
By means of a teaching methodology, which includes the development of a student portfolio, group dynamics, implementation of linguistic skills, introduction and practice of vocabulary and introductory sessions of Spanish culture, students will:
- Understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
- Communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
- Describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
- Interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
