Sample Itineraries

To give you an idea of how a Field Study Trip works, we've included a few itineraries from years past.

English and Geography Trip to London


Time Activity
0715 Breakfast and preparation of packed lunches
0800 Motor coach leaves Castle reception
1000 Coach drops off all English students, instructor, and Student Life Coordinator (SLC) at Southwark Bridge
1015
Coach drops off all Geography students, instructor, and SLC near the London Wall for a walking tour of Brick Lane Market, Petticoat Lane Market, the Museum of London, the Financial District, and the East End
1030 Coach drops off all other students at Cleopatra's Needle by the Thames River
1100 English students take a guided tour of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, Bankside, followed by a visit to the exhibition and 13:00 performance of "The Winter's Tale". Please note we have Yard Standing tickets so bring appropriate clothing in case of cold/wet/hot/sunny weather (the use of umbrellas is not allowed).

"The Winter's Tale" ends
1715
All students meet coach at Cleopatra's Needle for 1730 departure
1730 Coach departs
1930 Coach arrives at the Castle for dinner

Commerce and Politics Trip to London


Time Activity
0715 Breakfast and make up packed lunches
0800 Motor coach leaves Castle reception
1030 Coach drops off Commerce students, instructors, and Student Life Coordinator (SLC) at William Grant & Sons International Ltd. for visit. Coach continues on to the Bank of England.
1130 (approx) Coach drops off all other students at Bank of England. Politics students, instructor, and SLC visit Bank of England Museum and Bartholomew Lane, followed by a walking tour of the city.
1300 Coach picks up Commerce students and SLC from William Grant for transfer to Cleopatra's Needle. Free time.
1715 All students meet at Cleopatra's Needle for coach departure at 1730
1730 Coach departs
2000 Coach arrives at Castle for evening meal

Classics Trip to Fishbourne and Bignor

0845 Breakfast and make up packed lunches
0915 Depart Castle reception in minibus with Student Life Coordinator (SLC)
1000 Pick up instructor at Falmer Station, Brighton
1100 (approx) Visit to Fishbourne Roman Palace
1300 Depart Fishbourne
1430 Visit to Bignor Roman Villa
1600 Time permitting, visit Bignor Hill
1700 Depart Bignor
1830 Arrive at Castle for dinner
