Emergency Procedures

The safety of our students is of utmost importance. All off-site trips are organized in accordance with the Queen's Off-Campus Activity Safety Policy.

In conjunction with the British Police, the B.I.S.C. has devised the following emergency protocol to govern all off-site trips:

In the event of an emergency while we are on a field study trip to London, such as a bombing or other attack on the public, students and faculty must make their way on foot directly to our assembly point at Cleopatra's Needle, where a member of staff will go to meet you and arrange transport back to the Castle.  In the event of this assembly point being unavailable or inaccessible, please ask a police officer how to proceed or go to the nearest police station for advice.  Then, if possible, telephone Castle Reception (01323 834444) for information. Bear in mind that it may be impossible to contact a staff member by mobile phone, and that you may need to find a landline, for example a telephone booth.

All faculty and students MUST comply with this procedure under emergency circumstances, because we would wish to account for everyone on the trip as soon as possible and get them safely back to the castle.

For non-London trips, the assembly point will be the coach pick up point given on the itinerary, unless you are told otherwise.

On all trips students are given a printed itinerary and map of the relevant area as well as contact mobile numbers for all staff on the trip.
