Dr. Cereceda’s field of interest includes visual arts and literature of the Hispanic world in the contemporary period -cultural exchanges within the Atlantic arch, post-war proposals, conceptual art, visual poetry, travel literature and landscape representation-, with a particular focus on the binaries of memory and perception, travel and exile, alienation and estrangement.
Her main research line currently focuses on pictorial recreations and reinterpretations of cultural heritage and on processes of reconstruction of the past through memory and perception, undertaken by Spanish visual artists from Atlantic maritime backgrounds. The relationships established between some of the most avant-garde artistic proposals and popular -even kitsch- elements of these seafaring cultures, and the role that memories of the sea and sailing boats, of the coastline and lighthouses, play in conforming the artistic imaginary of these creators, characterize the work she is developing at present.
This is part of a project shared by a number of Spanish and Latin American Governmental and Higher Education institutions aiming to recuperate artistic and cultural Hispanic heritage, such as the Centre for the Arts Cabo Mayor Lighthouse, in Spain. Her research has allowed her to establish collaborations with the University of Cantabria and the University of Oviedo, both in Spain.
