We are keen to guide every student to academic success, and to this end we offer bespoke academic skills sessions for both first year and upper year students. These sessions are placed at several key moments in each term for maximum impact and helpfulness.
First year academic skills sessions will cover topics such as “How to write your first university essay.” Upper year academic skills sessions will cover topics such as “Effective research in cyberspace.”
Besides these group sessions, BISC students also have individual access to our onsite Research Director, who holds regular office hours to help students with all aspects of research as they work up their assignments.
Finally, all of our faculty include some academic skills components in their courses, and have much greater availability than is usual in a large university to help students one-on-one to develop skills and do their work efficiently and well.
