Two members of the Castle faculty – currently Dr Peter Lowe and Dr Chris Taylor – serve as Academic Advisors at the Castle. Their role is to provide help and guidance to first-year and upper-year students on several academic matters relating to course choices, including the following:
- Adding and dropping courses whilst at the Castle.
- Academic progress whilst at the Castle.
- Applying for transfers to other universities.
- General advice on future studies.
In addition to the Castle’s own Academic Advisers, first-year Queen’s students at the Castle get an opportunity to consult a team of three Academic Advisers from the Queen’s home campus, who visit the Castle for several days in the Winter term; they can give more detailed advice on second-year courses and Summer courses available back at the main Queen’s campus, the structure of degree programs, and so on.
