Membership of the Council of the School consists of:

Ex-Officio Members: The Principal of the University, The Vice Principal (Academic), The Vice Principal (Research), The Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, The Deans of the Faculties/Schools, The Associate Dean(s) of the School of Graduate Studies, The Registrar of the School of Graduate Studies, The Director of Research Services, The Chief Librarian of the University, The Chair of the Fellowship Committee, The Chair and Associate Chair of each Division, The Graduate Coordinator for each Department of the School, The President and Vice Presidents of the Society of Graduate and Professional Students.

Other members: Additional Faculty members, four elected by each Division, The Graduate Student Senators who are members of the School, Five additional graduate students, one from each Division and named by the Council of the Society of Graduate and Professional Students, up to three staff members of the University elected annually by Council, and up to three members of the University community as a whole to be elected annually by Council.

The Chair of the Council is elected by the Council and serves for two years.
