Established by Mary Macgillivray in memory of her father, Dr. John Macgillivray, Professor of German Language and Literature at Queen's University. The recipient of the award must have demonstrated academic excellence within either the M.A. or Ph.D. program. Preference will be given to applicants who plan to use the funds to help finance their graduate research in Europe. Applications and supporting documents are due March 1; decisions will be announced by March 20. Adjudication will be by the Committee on Graduate Studies in the Department of German. Each application must include a written plan for research in Europe (500-700 words) and two letters of reference, as well as graduate program transcripts.
Successful applicants must have their Thesis Proposals approved by the Committee on Graduate Studies in German before taking up their fellowship. Value: variable
