Queen’s Faculty of Law is renowned for its special
combination of academic excellence and community spirit, placing it
within the first rank of Canadian law schools. We offer a smaller,
intimate university experience in Kingston, a charming, dynamic city.
Queen’s Law attracts outstanding students from across
Canada. With a faculty dedicated to exceptional teaching and
scholarship, Queen’s offers a comprehensive academic program with a
particular emphasis on a legal education that is both national and
global in scope. Among our international initiatives, every spring we
offer a unique international and comparative law program at our own
Queen’s University International Study Centre at Herstmonceux Castle in
the UK. We also offer a wide range of international student exchange
opportunities that include leading law schools in Europe, the Middle
East, Asia, Australia and South Africa. Our visitors’ program includes
a diverse range of international scholars, and our curriculum includes
an increasingly strong focus on global perspectives in the study of
law. As our international programs continue to expand, we aim to be
“Canada’s Global Law School.”
For students with financial need, we provide an
exceptional level of support. In 2007-08, Queen’s gave over $1.7
million to law students with financial need, making Queen’s Law among
the most generous law schools in Canada.
Queen’s Law is responsive to the diverse interests and
career aspirations of our students, with a placement rate for our
graduates that is among the very highest of any Canadian law
school. Our graduates find placements in a wide range of Canada’s
leading law firms large and small, in all types of public service work,
and in various international organizations, and are accepted into
leading graduate programs in Canada and abroad.
