A student who does not meet the stated prerequisites for a course but who may have other qualifications for admission to the course may request that the Department waive the prerequisites.
 
EXCLUSIONS
A student who is excluded from a course because of previous work completed but who can show good cause for an exception to be made may request that the Department waive the exclusion.

Offered in English, this survey course covers the historical, social, political and cultural aspects of Spain from its prehistoric period to the present day. Students will view and analyze a selection of Almodóvar's films within the context of Spain and other countries. The Spanish Civil War (1936-39) culminated in the military overthrow of the Republican government and the beginning of Francisco Franco's long dictatorship. This course examines artistic representations of the war in film (both documentary and fictional) and in other visual media (paintings, photography, posters), as well as in the written works of both Spanish and foreign authors such as Orwell, Hemingway, Neruda, Sender and Rodoreda.
