Regulation 8 Credits from Other Degree Programs at Queen's University
To be eligible for a degree offered by the Faculty of Arts and Science, a student must normally be registered on a degree program in the Faculty of Arts and Science.
Undergraduate students may take courses in another Faculty or School at Queen's University for credit toward their degree program in Arts and Science, subject to the restrictions listed below.
Similarly, undergraduate students wishing to transfer to the Faculty of Arts and Science from another Faculty or School at Queen's University (including students wishing to transfer fromB.F.A., B.Mus.,B.P.H.E.(Hons.), B.Sc.(Hons., Kinesiology) or the collaborative program in X-Ray Technologyto another program in the Faculty of Arts and Science) normally will be admitted with credit for equivalent courses, subject to the restrictions listed below. Applications for transfer must be submitted to Undergraduate Admission by the dates indicated under Sessional Dates. The regulations of the Faculty of Arts and Science apply to such students at the time of transfer and subsequently.
a Applied Science: only courses assessed by Arts and Science departments as transferable to Arts and Science may be transferred;
b ARTF: no more than 4.0 credits may be counted or transferred;
c COMM: no more than 4.0 credits may be counted or transferred;
dLAW: only specified LAW courses may be counted or transferred, and only toward a concentration in WMNS (see Women's Studies);
e MUSC: most courses from the B.Mus. program may be transferred. Exceptions include the following: MUSC 127*, MUSC 128*, MUSC 227*, MUSC 228*; MUSC 125, MUSC 225, MUSC 325, MUSC 425; all ensembles; a maximum of two of the series MUSC 180*-MUSC 189* may be transferred; applied study courses MUSC 121, MUSC 221, MUSC 321, MUSC 421 and MUSC 120, MUSC 220, MUSC 320, MUSC 420 receive equivalent transfer credit as MUSC124, MUSC 224, MUSC 324, MUSC 424;
f NURS:only courses assessed by Arts and Science departments as transferable to Arts and Science may be transferred;
g PHED: only courses assessed by Arts and Science departments as transferable to Arts and Science may be counted or transferred;
h THEO: only specified THEO courses may be counted or transferred, and only toward a concentration in History or Religious Studies;
i School of Graduate Studies and Research:undergraduate students may be permitted to take graduate courses for credit toward their undergraduate degree program under the following conditions:
i enrolment of undergraduates in graduate courses needs the approval of the instructor, the Chair of Undergraduate Studies in their Department of concentration and the School of Graduate Studies and Research;
ii permission to enrol in a graduate course as part of an undergraduate program is only available to fourth-year students whom the Department deems to be outstanding (generally taken to mean first-class standing); and
iii the same course(s) may not count for credit in both the graduate and undergraduate degree programs.
