Departmental Facilities
The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology is located in the Health Sciences Complex, Botterell Hall. The laboratories are well equipped to carry out a broad range of neuropharmacology, cardiovascular pharmacology and biochemical/molecular pharmacology and toxicology research studies. Specialized research instrumentation and facilities are available both in the Department and by collaboration with research groups.
Financial Assistance

All students are guaranteed a minimum stipend that is adjusted annually for inflation. The current minimum stipend is $20,000 for M.Sc. students and $21,000 for Ph.D. students. Graduate students in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology receive competitive scholarships, studentships and fellowships from a number of different external agencies. If competitive external funding is not obtained, students are also eligible for internal scholarships from Queen’s (e.g. McLaughlin Fellowship) and from the Department (Eldon Boyd Fellowship and the Pharmacology and Toxicology Alumni Fellowship). In addition, funding of graduate students can also come from two types of graduate assistantships: i) teaching assistantships supported by the university, and ii) research assistantships supported by research grants to faculty.

Fields of Research Drug biosynthesis; drug metabolism; biochemical and molecular toxicology; neuropharmacology and psychopharmacology; pharmacology of pain, membrane pharmacology; cardiovascular pharmacology; pharmacokinetics; cancer pharmacology; signal transduction; pharmacology of erectile dysfunction; environmental toxicology.
