      Quercus palustris

Common in southern Ontario, especially abundantin the regions associated with Lake Erie. The common name "pin oak" refersto the abundant stout, blunt branchlets which line the trunk. Most oftenplanted as an ornamental, the wood is sometimes harvested for furnitureand flooring.
