Evaluation

  • Mid-Term Take-home exam (Take Home): 30%
  • Tutorial Participation: 20%
  • Final Exam (Proctored): 50% (TBA)

The midterm exam comprises thirty percent of your final grade. It is a take-home exam that will be released to you on Moodle Thursday June 13 at 6:00PM. Your answers must be uploaded by Thursday June 13 at 11:59PM (two-three hours should be sufficient to complete the test). Do not miss this test unless you contact me before the test and then provide official documentation explaining your absence you will forfeit the marks. Use the medical form for illness.

Tutorial Participation: You will be graded for your contribution to online tutorial discussions, comprising twenty percent of your final grade. Tutorial discussion questions will be made available prior to the beginning of each week. You are expected to provide your initial contribution to the discussion by Thursday morning of each week and you will not see others contributions until yours has been provided. You are then expected to engage in a constructive way with the contributions of your peers. While you may continue discussion contributions after Sunday will not be considered for the purpose of grading.  Please note that you are being graded for the quality of your contribution, not simply the quantity. We are looking for strong arguments that are grounded in the readings and in the material we cover. Writing a lot does not guarantee a strong grade – it’s the clarity, relevance and strength of what you write. Short but precise contributions that aid the discussion are extremely welcome! Please note that this tutorial participation is an important part of the course that accordingly is assigned twenty five percent of your overall grade. Failure to participate will significantly impact on your final grade.

Final Examination

The final exam will be worth fifty percent of your final grade.
