Evaluation

  1. Four essays of 1,000 words each;
  2. Online discussions of individual works;
  3. Final exam

ENGL 100/6.0 requires you to write supervised examinations at an established exam centre. Queen's has exam centres around the world. When you register, indicate where you would like to write your exam by checking the online list of current exam locations.

You must complete all of the assignments and pass the final exam in order to pass the course.

Mark Breakdown

  1. Essay One is worth 10%. Essays Two, Three, and Four are worth 15% each. In total, the four essays are worth 55%
  2. Participation in online discussions is worth 15%
  3. The Final Exam is worth 30%

Late Papers: Essays are due at the beginning of the tutorial session. Late essays will lose 5% per day. The weekend counts as two days (10%). No essays will be accepted after two weeks; a grade of zero will be assigned in such cases. Late papers may forfeit the right to full commentary. If you are affected by unforeseen circumstances (such as ill health or bereavement) you must document these circumstances. Extensions are rarely granted. For all matters concerning your essay, consult your tutorial leader well in advance of the due date.

Final Examination

Students must write their exam on the day and time scheduled by the University. The start time may vary slightly depending on the off-campus exam centre.
