Message from the Instructor
Welcome to Introduction to Literary Study (English 100)!
I have taught English at Queen’s University for 9 years. My main research interests include Thomas De Quincey, William Wordsworth, John Wilson, Leigh Hunt, Jane Austen, British magazines, print culture, the literature of addiction, and detective fiction. I recently published The English Opium Eater: A Biography of Thomas De Quincey.
There are many required readings, weekly discussions, and four essays due throughout the length of the course. It is important that you keep up with the course schedule.
I look forward to sharing this journey through the main literary genres over the next several weeks.
