LLCU Semester in Shanghai

Fall Semester 2013

Formerly known as the DEVS-Fudan Semester Abroad in Shanghai, this full semester programme, running for 15 weeks from September to December, provides participants with a multifaceted insight into the socio-economic changes currently taking place in China. China is a country that is noteworthy for a rich cultural heritage, an earlier record of alternative development strategies, and a growing movement towards market oriented economic growth that is producing some unique development challenges. Students will have an opportunity to study these developments at Fudan University, Shanghai, whose programmess in social research are considered to be one of the best in China.

Located in the city of Shanghai , Fudan University was founded in 1905 and is one of China’s most prestigious learning institutions.

As a multi-disciplinary institution, Fudan offers programs in a range of areas including the Humanities, Medicine, Law, Information Sciences and Journalism, to name a few.

As an internationally recognized institution the university boasts exchange programs and cooperative relations with a multitude of other influential institutions such as Harvard, Cornell, and now Queen’s.

Fudan has been accepting international students since the 1950s and was one of the first Chinese institutions to do so. Approximately 1800 international students are currently pursuing long-term studies while another 600 are enrolled in short term programs. Shanghai offers a useful backdrop for coursework as a fast-paced city full of prospective experiences and learning opportunities.
